Job Description

BBG Ventures is looking for a methodical, low-ego, and high-EQ Platform Associate who thrives on execution. The Platform Associate will enable our small-but-mighty team to achieve operational excellence, promote the firm’s brand, and manage new and existing Platform programs to support the 75+ companies in our portfolio of women- and BIPOC-led startups.

This role will involve “a little bit of this” and “a little bit of that” on a daily basis. The star candidate for this position will thrive on connecting the dots, fostering a vibrant and engaged community, seeing how small pieces contribute to the larger puzzle, thinking two steps ahead, and operationalizing for efficiency. Some work the Platform Associate can expect to do include: portfolio and fund operations, content creation, event management, community management, founder relationship building, portfolio communication and reporting, service provider sourcing, special projects & new initiatives, and PR.

While this role is not a pathway into the investment team, it does provide the Platform Associate with a unique look into how a venture fund is run.

• Has a growth mindset, is intrinsically motivated, and isn’t afraid to fail a few times on the way to creating something impactful.
• Has strong writing skills with clear and polished, yet candid and kind, verbal communication.
• Is “T-shaped” with a depth of experience/achievement in one or two arenas (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Engineering, CX, etc.) and the curiosity and intellectual vitality to dive deep into new fields.
• Is organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven — but doesn’t get so hung up on perfection and minutiae that they miss an opportunity.
• Is creative, curious, and intuitive — but makes decisions based on data.

Core Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in a fast-paced office environment.
• Differentiated networks in the startup and venture capital ecosystem.
• Nice to have: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CMS, Airtable, Notion, Splash.

Role & Responsibilities

Business Ops — Apply strategic thinking and your growing knowledge of venture capital to:

• Improve and maintain our internal communications, investment CRM (Affinity) and filing system.
• Finding the best service providers for the portfolio, taking calls, and sourcing discounts for the best startup tools.
• Support BBG Ventures’ portfolio companies on select projects (ex: PR, business development, etc.)

Community — Support the women & diverse founder ecosystem and work with Head of Platform to:

• Coordinate events for BBGV’s founder, VC, LP, press, and operator ecosystems.
• Manage and facilitate angel syndicates and SPVs.
• Lead BBG Ventures community and ecosystem growth initiatives
• Manage BBGV’s Operator Network community.
• Partner with tech-, women-, and BIPOC-focused communities to increase diversity and inclusion in BBGV’s network.
• Write, source, and post social media, blog, and newsletter content for BBGV’s core audiences: founders, LPs, and VCs.
• Develop a network of journalists to keep a constant flow of stories pitched for BBGV and portfolio companies.
• Develop relationships with service providers

People & Office Ops — Keep the trains running by:

• Manage closing checklists for investments, including wire and legal documents.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the office, onboard new hires, and carry the company culture.

Compensation

Based on market data BBG Ventures has collected, we expect the base salary range for this position to be $80,000-$95,000 per year, plus a competitive bonus package. Your actual compensation will be determined based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
